Docs/Analytics & Reports

Filtering everything at once

Click a row to filter the whole page, what a filter narrows, what it hides, visit counts and saved segments.

Any row you click on Analytics becomes a filter, and a filter narrows the whole page: every card, the chart, every panel and the comparison with the previous period. Filters combine, so you can look at, say, mobile visitors from one city who came from one channel.

Adding a filter

Click a row in Pages (the Page and Entry page tabs), in Traffic Sources (Channel, Source and Referrer), in Geography (Country, Region and City) or in Technology (Browser, OS and Device). The row's value becomes an is filter for that dimension. Clicking another value in the same dimension adds it, so the filter matches either. Hostname, Exit page, Campaign, Keyword and the AI tab are not clickable filters.

Editing and removing

Active filters appear as chips under the toolbar, after Filtered by. Click a chip to change it: the operator can be is, is not or contains, values can be typed in or removed with their X, and the X on the chip removes the whole filter. Clear all appears once two or more filters are set.

Filters live in the address

Filters are stored in the page address, so a filtered view survives a refresh, works with the back button, and can be sent to a teammate as a link. Different dimensions narrow together; several values inside one dimension widen it.

What a filter narrows

Every card, the chart, every panel, and the previous period the badges compare with. Leads follow too: a filter on source or page keeps the leads whose own source or page matches, and any other dimension keeps the leads whose visit matched, so a country filter keeps the leads whose visit came from that country.

What a filter hides

Three things cannot follow a filter, so they are not shown unfiltered next to filtered numbers. Two of them hide: Abandonment by page and First response. The AI tab under Traffic Sources stays and says so: Not available while a filter is active. Clear the filter to see AI assistant traffic. Two panels ignore filters and follow only the range and the site: Cost per lead and ROAS, and User Journey.

Filter by number of visits

Click the Visitors card to switch the chart to New vs Returning Visitors; the Filter by number of visits button appears beside the legend. Choose at least, exactly or at most, enter a number, and the page keeps only the visitors who came that many times in the selected period. In the dialog's own words: A visit is a session separated by 30+ minutes of inactivity, the same way bounce rate is measured.

While this filter is on, the Goals panel is hidden, the change badges and small bar charts on the cards are not shown, Abandonment by page and First response are hidden as well, the AI tab shows the same message, and Time on Page and LCP show plain averages.

Saved segments

Segments, at the left of the filter row, lists the views your company has saved. When a filter or a site is selected, Save current view appears: give the view a name of up to 60 characters and it is kept for everyone in the company. Applying a segment sets its filters and its site in one click. Deleting one asks you to confirm.
