Team
Roles, what each may change, changing a role, removing someone, and teams.
Settings, Team is who is in your company and what each person may change. Four tiles count your members, the active ones, the invitations still open and the ones that have expired. Below them, Members lists everyone, and Teams lets you group people.
The three roles
- Owner: can do everything on this page, including making someone else an owner.
- Admin: manages the team and the company settings, but cannot touch an owner or make one.
- Member: works the leads, jobs and everything else, and changes nothing on this page.
Roles decide who may change the team and the company's settings; they do not limit what a person sees. Owners and admins can rename the company, change its logo and change the alert settings. The services and service area lists are the exception: only the person who created the workspace can edit those.
The rules behind every change
One rule decides whether a change to somebody's role or membership is allowed, whatever button you press:
- Only owners and admins can change anyone's role or membership.
- You cannot change your own role, and you cannot remove yourself.
- You cannot change or remove someone who outranks you: an admin cannot change, remove, or revoke the invitation of an owner.
- Only an owner can make someone an owner.
- An owner's role cannot be changed here. Handing a company to another owner is something we do for you; ask from the Help / Feedback button.
Change someone's role
Click the role on their row and pick the new one. An owner sees all three roles; an admin sees Admin and Member, and gets no menu on an owner's row or their own.
Remove someone
Click the trash icon on their row, then Yes at Remove?. They lose access at once. Their notes and timeline entries stay on the leads; on the timeline, a person no longer in the company appears as Someone. The trash icon does not appear on your own row, and an admin does not see it on an owner's row.
Group people into teams
Under Teams, click Create team, give it a name, an optional description, an icon and a colour, and tick the members. Each team shows in the Team column of the members list. You can add or remove members on a team later, edit it, or delete it. Teams are labels for organising people; they do not change what anyone may do.
