Invitations

Inviting someone, what they see, the states an invitation passes through, and sending it again.

Inviting someone sends them an email with a link. The link signs them in, and they join with one click. Until they click Join, nothing has changed in your company.

Invite someone

Under Settings, Team, click Invite member. Enter their email, optionally their name, and pick a role, then send. An admin who picks Owner is refused, because only an owner can make one. If the address already belongs to an active member, you are told so and nothing is sent.

The email is titled You've been invited to join your company on Local Wrangler, names who invited them, has an Accept Invitation button, and says the invite expires in 7 days.

What the person you invited sees

  • No account yet: the link opens Create your password. It explains that the account was created from an invitation and has no password, asks for one twice, and shows the rules as they type. Then they continue to the invitation page.
  • Already has an account: the link opens the invitation page directly. It does not ask for a password.
  • The invitation pagereads Join followed by your company's name, says which address was invited, and has one button: Join. Clicking it adds them to the company and opens the Dashboard. Following the link alone joins nobody.

Someone who is already in your company and opens an old link goes straight to the Dashboard. An invitation that has been revoked shows Invitation not found. One that has run out of time says how long invitations are valid and to ask you for a new one. A link from before the current invitation system explains that it is out of date and to ask for a new one.

Read the Status column

  • Pending: sent and not yet accepted.
  • Not delivered: our email provider could not get the message to them. The block above the list says why.
  • Expired: more than 7 days have passed since it was sent. The link no longer works; the invitation stays listed so you can send it again.
  • Active: they joined. The Joined column shows the date.

When an invitation needs attention

A block above the list counts the invitations that need attention and says what happened to each, with a Send again button:

  • This invitation has expired. Invitations are valid for 7 days. Send it again to give them a new link.
  • We could not deliver this invitation. Their mail server turned it away this time, which is often temporary. Try sending it again.
  • We could not deliver this invitation. The address was rejected, so check it for a typo and send the invitation again.
  • We could not send this invitation. Check the address for a typo, then send it again.
  • This invitation was marked as spam. Ask them to look in their spam folder and allow email from us before you send it again.

Send an invitation again

Click Send again in the attention block, or invite the same address again with Invite member. Either way a fresh email goes out with a new link, the earlier link stops working the moment the new one is issued, the 7 days start over, and the old delivery problem is cleared. An admin cannot re-send an invitation that names an owner.

Revoke an invitation

Click the trash icon on the invitation's row, then Yes at Revoke invite?. The link stops working and the row disappears. An admin cannot revoke an owner invitation.

Joining is always a deliberate click on the invitation page. Email scanners and link previews that open the link do not join anyone.
